From Good Hover To Bad Hover – Beginner RC Helicopter Hovering Tip

Just a quick rc helicopter hovering tip that can save from you a crash such as this tail boom strike on my ESky Belt CP 450 V2.

I had just completed a relatively good hover of nearly 3 minutes, my longest up to that point, and landed safely (see the video below – pretty boring stuff, but just to make the point!).

Then I thought, well, that felt good, let’s give it another try – and you can see the result after about 40 seconds!

So what happened between the good hover and the crash?

Well, as one of my experienced RC pilot friends puts it: “When you take off into a hover and for some reason the heli seems to sway and be abit all over the place. Land it and switch it off and go do something else; it is all about concentration and with each heli pilot learning you will see after a few minutes of intense concentration they will go into a hectic hover. Rather land it and try later again…”

So there you have it: Good hover… tiredness and loss of concentration… bad hover… crash!
