Once your site has been built on your own computer, you’ll need to start thinking about getting the domain name you want for your site. Getting a domain name means that web surfers will be able to connect to your web site by entering www.yourdomainname.com.
When you get your own domain name try to choose a domain name that is easy to remember and has something to do with your business.
Try to stick with a .com domain if you can, it is much more easily remembered.

If you can include a keyword or two in the domain, that’s a good idea too. When others link to your site, the anchor text will already have a keyword or two included, and that can help your organic search engine ranking.
So how to get a website domain? You can try any number of sites such as the popular - and cheap - godaddy.com (which I use). You should not have to pay any more than $10 - $12 a year for your domain name, in many cases it’s even cheaper, such as with godaddy.
